These are the movies I've recently seen in the theater, in order of newest to oldest.

Enchanted - Don't ask.

August Rush - I thought this was original, I do not like seeing Robin WIlliams play a scumbag. Which means he did it very well. The story jumps time and the parents don't physically age so you need to suspend some disbelief. The little boy hides his accent very well, also. Oh and that style of guitar, never seen anything like it, love it.

Transformers - They are more then meets the Eye! Anyway a great Michael Bay film. Big, loud, action and fantastic. It's great to see Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee etc on film. A few campy parts but they are for the kids obviously. It rocked!

Hostel 2 - A follow up the successful first Hostel, this has the same premise as the first film but with women this time and in a different country. I myself thought the kills where not as painful as the first movie, and the "twist" ending I saw coming 45 minutes before the end of the film. I really didn't enjoy this one near as much as the first.

Knocked Up - From the writer / director of The 40 Year Old Virgin comes Knocked Up, and boy is it funny. I really had some great laughs at this one. What was also great for me was how heavily Canadian it was, it was great!

Spider-Man 3 - All the characters are back with a couple additions, Gwen Stacy, Eddy Brock Jr, Venom and Sandman. The special effects are better then ever. Black Suit Spider-man is amazing, but bad ass, cocky Peter Parker is just dumb and campy. The fights and action scenes are amazing and probably even better a second time because there is so much going on. All in all a great addition to the Spider-man franchise.

Blades of Glory - WIll Ferrel and Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) actually make a great comedy duo. This could be one of Will Farrel's funniest. Though with me be a Canadian I may be a little bias, since it is a movie making fun of figure skating. This movie pokes so much fun at figure skating and is worth the 11 bucks.

300 - After my last disappointment from a Comic Book turned to movie I can this film was the opposite of that experience. 300, kicks ass. It is exactly what it should be a giant graphical novel on the movie screen. The cinematography, if it can be called that, since most of it was filmed green screen, either way, it was gorgeous to look at. The film makes no attempt to be anything other than what it is, a comic book, war epic with the 300 Spartans trying to hold back the massive persian army in 480 BC. That is what they attempt to have the movie be and that is exactly what it is.

Ghost Rider - Honestly, one would assume that a Marvel Comic Book movie with Eva Mendez and Nic Cage would be a sure fire hit. Well it isn't. Honestly I thought about walking out of the theater. The special effects where very good, but that is not enough to make it a good movie.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan - What can I say? Movies probably don't get any funnier then this one. If you don't know of Borat, or the comedy of Sasha Baron Cohen then this may not be for you. It's extremely edgy comedy. Borat is a fictional news reporter from Kazakhstan, but everyone else is real and thinks he's for real and so the laughs the audience has are great. I thought he was going to go over board when he stops at a Bed and Breakfast run by an older Jewish couple, but he pulls off the skit without the older couple being offended or even knowing that shows you how brilliant his comedy really is.

Saw III - The 3rd and final (maybe not) chapter in the Saw franchise. I loved the first Saw film, and the second Saw film was quite good, this third one, I'm not sure. The deaths where painful as expected, the twists I'm not sure if they where expected or not. I don't understand why all the focus on the first two films. I'm just really not sure I liked the third installment in the Saw franchise, and trust me, I am a big horror film fan. I can't say much more without giving the ending away, so I won't.

The Prestige - This is the new Christopher Nolan (Director / Writer) film. It teams Christopher back with Christian Bale like Batman Begins and joins them with Hugh Jackman, who oddly enough has many films coming it right now. This is a dark film about Magicians and rivalry. I loved it, I liked the twists and turns and didn't see most of it coming, so for me it really worked and was not the film I expected.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning - Well the remake of the original was amazing, and is by far one of the best horror films of all time. The prequel "The Beginning" could have been great, but it really missed. The only saving grace is R. Lee Ermey (Sheriff Hoyt in the Remake and in this film) and his evil and the explanation of his character. They show you how crazy the family is and basically how it came to the point of them killing, but it really is about the family and not Leather face himself. It didn't do anything new for the franchise or do anything different from the remake, in fact many scenes are extremely similar to the remake of the original, no new blood ;) in this one.

Jackass: Number 2 - I have to admit I like movies where I don't have to think. I also do love a good smart thriller, but on the whole I'd rather be able to just go to the movies and escape. There is nothing easier than doing that with Jackass 2. It's dumb, gross and funny as hell. It's that simple. Go laugh till it hurts, get a little grossed out so you have to look away once or twice and laugh some more.

The Protector (AKA Tom-Yum-Goong) - This is the newest Action Thai film from Tony Jaa, who first became known from The Thai Warrior (AKA Ong Bak). Tony Jaa is by far the best Martial Artist on screen today. His hard hitting Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) fights are incredible to see on screen. And my martial arts instructor, who moved to Thailand 3 years ago is in this film as a bad guy (he's white in an Asian film so we know he's gonna be a bad guy), gets his ass kicked by Tony Jaa in this film. Anyway great fights, story is a little funny, but the fights are amazing. No Wires and No CGI, it doesn't get too much better than this for a fight film fan.

Crank - I had hoped this movie would be an adrenalin ride like it says it is. But for a movie all about adrenalin it was slow and crappy. Jason Statham is great in his movies, Transporter 1 & 2, The Italian Job etc, he's good in this one as well., it's just that the script sucks. It's too bad that this movie is as poor as it is, because it could be a fun ride. A contract killer gets drugged with a poison that can be slowed down if he gets adrenalin rushes. So he does everything to get those rushes to keep him alive long enough for payback.

Invincible - This is the story of Vince Papale who played 3 seasons with the Eagles after never playing any College Football. Great story, great movie. A movie with a positive message, told well, and not overdone. Won't win any awards but it's touching and has some hard football hits!

Snakes on a Plane - What a fun ride. Plot? Exactly what the title says. A whole bunch of poisonous snakes wreaking havoc on a plane. This is B rated horror at it's best. What a cult classic this will become. I loved it, fun, stupid, everything it should be. I'm very glad they re-shot scenes to make it R Rated instead of it's Original PG-13 rating. I can't say enough about how fun Snakes on a Plane was, and how great it is to see Sam Jackson in a B rated horror flick.

World Trade Center - I do not believe I need to explain what this movie is about, but incase you've lived in a cave for 5 years. The drastic events of Sept 11 2001 (9/11) as seen through the eyes of 2 survivors and their families. These two Port Authority Officers where trapped under the collapse of Tower 1 for 16 / 23 hours and survived. Now I live in Battery Park City, which is actually built on the Land Fill from when the Trade Towers where built, I can look from my balcony and see Ground Zero about 400 feet away, most of the people I know in my neighborhood have horrible stories of death and amazing stories of survival from that day. This movie is really one of those stories, and a very touching one, but I do have to say that it just did not connect for me. I felt the telling of the story too dry and straight and I was not able to connect with the characters or their families. Even with that said, this is a movie that needs to be seen to be supported so that this and all the stories from that day never become forgotten.

The Descent - British Horror Flick about 6 women who go spelunking (Caving) and get trapped in the cave system and then find out they are not alone. Well traditionally horror movies suck, I love them, but it's rare you get a good one. This one worked, I was happy and impressed with the film after leaving. There are few horror movies over the last 5 years that did work, and trust me if it was a horror film in the theater I probably went to see it. This had a simple story line, with good character development, and some good scares, can't ask for much more than that.

Clerks 2 - The latest Kevin Smith film revisits Clerks, it's 10 years later and things have changed or have they? I have to say I loved it, damn funny, sick, over the top and twisted, but that is what makes it great. Kevin Smith says what's on his mind and doesn't clean it up.

Lady in the Water - The latest M Night Shymalan film, about a mysterious woman found in a pool and what she must do to go home. This one worried me, but I loved it and I know most people that did see it, probably didn't. No in between here, either you loved it or you hated it. I thought it was great to see a real Fairy Tale on the big screen, it's been a long time since a Fairy Tale made it to the big screen, and I thought it really worked. It was a thinking persons film, which makes it hard for some people, I know there are times when I don't want to have to think when watching a movie, when you just want to escape, and that is not this film you need to pay attention or you will miss a lot.

Superman Returns - No point in explaining what this one is about. 2 words - It ROCKED! It was great to see Supes back on the big screen. Yes I'm a geek.
