Well the New York City Half-Marathon presented by Nike is in only 6 days. I'm actually starting to get nervous, but I'm excited to announce that Fred's Team has raised $126,740 USD to date. I personally raised the 6th largest amount of money on our team ($ 3,355).
Back to being nervous, my training has gone to shit, literally as I just got back from Mexico (for anyone who's been to Mexico, you probably know what I mean). To make matters worse, in the last 2 weeks I've trained in 3 different countries and have taken far too much time off due to flights and traveling. Then the shin splints, I'm sick of talking about those. After the Half-Marathon is over I'm going to go to the doctor and have them checked out as I'm betting they may be stress fractures and not shin splints any more.
I'll get a few miles in this week, but not many since I'm just going to rest up my shins, and get over Mexico. I am still hoping for a personal best in this race, but as long as I run an hour and 40 minutes or better I will be very happy.
For any of you who are in New York and want to watch the race in person and cheer me on (as well as the 13,000 other runners) the run starts at 7am in Central Park and moves through Times Square to the West Side Highway, down the West Side finishing in Battery Park City (literally at my Apt building) at West Side Highway and West Thames. I'm in the first corral of runners (and great I was looking for that information in my email and I can't find it right now, shit) so I expect to be crossing the starting line before 7:30 AM which means I should be finishing by somewhere around 9 am. I hope to see friends out on the course. You can also watch the race (in New York anyway) on TV at WABC Channel 7 from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. I hope other places in the world can watch it on TV as well!
I'm going to have my "Carb Loading" dinner Saturday night at 6PM with the location to be announced, so if anyone wants to wish me well the night before, let me know.
Anyway this is the last email before the actual run, so wish me luck. Thanks for all your support everyone.
